Edinburgh asset manager Aubrey Capital has added to the number of First State alumni it employs with the appointment of the company’s chief of staff Andrew Ward to head compliance and operations.
Ward served with First State for six years initially as part of EMEA distribution before being heading institutional sales within Stewart Investors.
He had served in his most recent role, working closely with the chief executive, since 2017.
Aubrey Capital launched in 2006 by former First State fund managers Andrew Dalrymple and Barry McCorkell (pictured) and former analyst at the firm Lynne Thornton. While best known for its packaged fund range the company also runs a private client and IFA outsourcing service.
Chief investment officer Dalrymple said: ‘I am thrilled to welcome Andrew to Aubrey at what is an exciting time for the firm. As we continue to grow, I have no doubt that Andrew’s experience will help to significantly strengthen our offering.’
Over three years Dalyrmple’s S&W Aubrey Global Conviction fund returned 62.7% versus an Equity Global peer average of 42.8%.
The company in early 2017 launched model portfolio service (MPS).
The six risk-based strategies, will be available to clients investing a minumum£50,000.
The portfolios have been mapped against Dynamic Planner and FinaMetrica, and were developed to provide ‘better and smoother risk return profile’ for clients, Chris Sutton, investment director for private clients, told Wealth Manager.
