Top 10 UK places where house prices are booming

The value of UK homes grew an average of 2.6% last year, with 318 – or 78.3% – of all 406 local authorities seeing prices rise.

The value of UK homes grew 2.6% last year, with 318 of all 406 local authorities – or 78.3% – experiencing price rises.

That's according to Gatehouse Bank, which analysed recent released Land Registry data to discover the average performance of house prices in 2018 in locations throughout the country.

The company's chief executive, Charles Haresnape, said: 'It was an unpredictable year for house prices in 2018 and in the end, although the market only just outpaced inflation on the whole, there were still some stand out performances.

'Of course, a strong increase in one year is no guarantee of future success. Indeed, only three places in 2017’s top ten appear in 2018’s top flight, with first place Cambridge dropping to 259th of all local authority areas last year.'

Here are the 10 towns and cities outside of London which grew the most in value.
