Tilney hires Brown Shipley trio for Manchester office

Tilney has doubled the size of the investment management team in Manchester with three new hires from rival Brown Shipley.

The hires include Brown Shipley Manchester client director Andrew Ramsden, alongside Ben Griffiths and Danielle Bamber.

Tilney's Manchester branch now houses six investment managers and a team of thirteen financial planning professionals.

‘In Greater Manchester, the enlarged investment team will look to strengthen our relationships with other professional services firms including lawyers, accountants and financial advisers as a trusted partner for bespoke investment management,’ said Alan Edwards (pictured), head of investment management, England.

He added: ‘Andrew’s considerable expertise in managing assets for recipients of Personal Injury and clinical negligence awards will also strengthen our ability to support people who have faced life-changing circumstances right across the UK.’

Ramsden, who joined Brown Shipley in 2012, has nearly three decades of investment management experience and has worked for RBS, Coutts, Newton and BWD Rensburg.

He is a specialist in managing investment strategies for recipients of personal injury and clinical negligence settlements and is a member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association. He will join Tilney in early 2019 and will focus on helping the firm grow its business in this niche area.

Griffiths joins Tilney as an investment director next month. He started his career in Scotland at private bank Adam & Co, followed by an investment manager role at Cornelian Asset Management in Edinburgh, before moving to Brown Shipley.

Meanwhile Bamber, who joins as an associate director, previously spent four years at Brown Shipley, initially on the firm’s graduate scheme.
