Global head of private markets and real estate investment oversight at Aberdeen Standard Investments Alex Barr is to join Janus Henderson.
Barr will become a member of the UK multi-asset and alternatives team in London from July.
He will co-manage a series of funds and will serve as senior portrfolio manager with James de Bunsen and Peter Webster on the Henderson Alternative Strategies trust, reporting to Paul O'Connor (pictured), head of multi-asset investments.
O'Connor said: 'We are excited to be adding someone of Alex’s calibre and background to our already highly regarded multi-asset alternatives team.
'Alex brings a wealth of private markets experience to the team, which will allow us to further build on our performance track record, enhance our quality of service to clients and grow our multi-asset capabilities.'
Barr was previously head of private equity at Aberdeen and lead manager of the Aberdeen Private Equity fund.
Barr's arrival comes after a sseries of Janus Henderson departures.
Glen Finegan, head of global emerging market equities, left the firm earlier this month with his four-strong team Stephen Deane, Nicholas Cowley, Michael Cahoon and Ian Taberrer to leave on November 30.
