Rosemary Banyard exits Buffettology firm for 'personal reasons'

Rosemary Banyard is to step down as investment director at Sanford DeLand Asset Management for 'personal reasons' two years after joining the business.

Banyard (pictured), former co-manager to Andy Brough, joined the business in 2017, having previously spent 20 years at Schroders.

She will step down from the group and her management of the firm's £15 million CFP SDL UK Free Spirit fund this autumn.

The fund, which launched in early 2017, has returned 4.7% over the last year versus a peer average of 3.3%.

The house remains best known for Citywire AAA-rated founder Keith Ashworth-Lord's £724 million CFP SDL UK Buffettology fund.

Sanford DeLand chief executive Alex Brotherston said: 'We are sorry to see Rosemary go and wish her all the very best. We would like to thank her for the expertise and insight she has contributed to the SDL business and as manager of Free Spirit fund.

'This is a positive time of steady growth for the SDL business, as we see continuing inflows into the Buffettology fund while it gains traction with investment intermediaries, who value the fund for its consistency and positive track record.'

Investment analyst Andrew Vaughan will contine to work with Banyard over the next six months, Brotherston added.

Banyard started life as a graduate trainee at James Capel in 1979. She was promoted to fund manager at John Govett in 1995, before joining Schroders two years later. At Schroders she co-managed the company's pan-European small and mid cap team and ran around £1 billion in client assets.

As of October 2015, Banyard returned 73.4% over three years versus a peer group average of 67%.
