Robo taps ex-Schroders senior manager in hiring spree

Robo taps ex-Schroders senior manager in hiring spree

Tiller Investments, an online wealth manager targeting institutional investors, has made four new appointments to its investment team.

Shezad Lakha joins as head of quantative investments. He has 20 years industry experience – most recently as a managing director at Qvestor – and previously spent 18 years at Schroders, including as a senior portfolio manager for quantitative equity.

Daniel Greenhough will take up the role of senior investment portfolio manager, bringing nine years experience in wealth management, including his most recent role as an investment manager at Lumin Wealth Management and a stint on Barclays Wealth's portfolio selection committee.

Quantative engineer Dr Glenn Baggley will join as a director. He previously consulted for Tiller, having chaired Applied Quantative Consulting since 2016, overseeing the design and implementation of its investment optimisation algorithm.

He has 20 years investment experience, including as the founder of investment boutique Eddington Capital

Douglas Shaw, who also joins as a director, has worked in finance for over 30 years and in asset management for 25. He formerly held the role of chief operating officer at Roxbury Asset Management, which he helped to launch in 2015, after previously holding senior positions at BlackRock and Gartmore Group.

Co-founder and chief investment officer Jonathan Wauton said: ‘Tiller is a company of investment professionals who have embraced technology rather than the other way around.

‘A very important part of our offering, and in many ways our differentiator to other online wealth managers, is the knowledge and experience of our investment team.

‘I am pleased that we have been able to attract the type of talent Doug, Shezad, Glenn and Daniel bring to Tiller.’

The appointments follow the launch of a hiring spree that began shortly after the firm launched last month, in which Mark Cadby joined Tiller as chief technology officer, John Bennett (pictured) as head of business development, Hamish Haddow as head of marketing, and Marcus Dutton as product and innovation director.
