Q&A with Brad Waring, investment manager at James Brearley, Blackpool (pictured below):

What is your typical client demographic?

We benefit from a wide range of clients, including all types of private clients (families, retirees, professional and high net worth), trusts, companies, Sipps and intermediary introduced business.

What challenges are facing your local area?

Employment and the average level of wages. We find parents are investing on behalf of their children and are increasingly drawing down on their investments to help with education and house deposits.

What is the best thing about living in your region?

Diversity. Living on the coast, in only a short drive you can be in the countryside. Having the excitement of the pleasure beach, piers and the Sandcastle Water Park, while 10 minutes away is the peacefulness and history of Lytham Hall and the surrounding area.

Bullish or bearish?

We are definitely more cautious than a year ago, however we have not turned bearish yet. Although a lot is priced into some valuations, on balance we remain more bullish at this time.
