Q&A with Matthew Rainbird, branch manager, Hargreave Hale, Llandudno:

What is your typical client demographic?

Outside the charity portfolios we manage, our private clients tend to be either saving towards retirement or are retired and looking for additional retirement income.

What differentiates your region?

There are not very many places you can work where you look out the window and have the views we have over the Conwy estuary and mountains. To look after clients here the team must also be bilingual. We service both English and Welsh speaking clients, so fluency in both is essential.

What challenges are facing your area?

The transport links require investment. This can make it hard for some clients to travel throughout the region and so we regularly visit clients in their homes to make life easier for them.

What’s the best thing about living in your area?

Aside from the landscape and the views, the region does not suffer from the usual gridlock at rush hour.

What’s a typical regional saying?

‘Nid aur yw popeth melyn’ which translates as: all that glitters is not gold.

What is your office motto?

The client is our only priority

Bullish or bearish?

Cautiously bullish. Economic numbers in the US look strong and consumer confidence in the EU is the highest it has been in quite some time. We continue to be wary of companies where their business models are potentially threatened by disruptive technology.
