Q&A with William Forsyth, investment manager and principal, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh (picture below):
What is your typical client demographic?
Corporate clients, individuals and families who have built up their pension pot, which they want us to make work for them – to optimise income and capital growth opportunities in line with their current commitments and future plans.
What differentiates your region?
Edinburgh is blessed with great access to fund managers and company management, while not having the occasionally frantic feel of London life. This creates a great work-life balance and helps private wealth managers to provide a more personalised and relaxed service to customers, while maintaining strong expertise.
What challenges are facing your local area?
It is difficult to talk about challenges facing Edinburgh without talking about the potential second independence referendum. The financial services community in Edinburgh is understandably nervous about this as it has a heavy reliance on customers in the rest of the UK.
What’s the best thing about living in your region?
Edinburgh is one of the world’s most beautiful cities with hills and beaches on our doorstep. This is why the typical Edinburgh resident is a strong advocate of global warming.
What is a typical regional saying in Edinburgh?
‘You’ll have had your tea then.’
What is your office motto?
Never forgive, never forget…
