Kames Capital has hired Laurent Frings from Aberdeen Asset Management as head of credit research to rebuild its bond team.
The company’s co-head of fixed income Stephen Snowden, high yield boss David Ennet and fund managers Stephen Baines and Juan Valenzuela quit last month to join Artemis. Kames’ previous fixed income heads Phil Milburn and David Roberts left the business last August.
Frings’ appointment marks the start of Kames’ rebuilding programme. He has over 22 years of investment experience, having served as global head of credit research at both Aberdeen and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
He will report to Adrian Hull, Kames’ newly appointed sole head of fixed income.
Hull (pictured) said: ‘Laurent is extremely experienced with over 20 years of working in fixed income markets and I am very pleased he is joining us, bringing his wealth of knowledge of global credit markets. He will work closely with our investment managers to develop ideas and strategies.’
Kames chief investment officer Stephen Jones added: ‘We believe Laurent’s skill set fits perfectly into our team based approach to fixed income and with his experience he will provide some valuable insight in support of the team.
‘His appointment underlines our commitment to the fixed income market and highlights how we will move quickly and decisively to hire individuals, where appropriate, if we feel they can add value to our team and investment process.’
