JP Morgan PB poaches Barclays managing director

JP Morgan Private Bank has hired Barclays Private Bank managing director John Derrick as a senior banker in its UK and Nordics markets operation.

At his new firm, Derrick, who will also be a managing director, will be tasked with developing the firm’s team of bankers and advising ultra-high net worth individuals, families, charities and endowments.

Based in London, he will report to JP Morgan Private Bank’s head of UK Nordics Oliver Gregson.

Gregson said: ‘It is an exciting time for our business, and his experience working with the UK’s largest ultra-high net worth individuals, families and charities will be a great addition to our team.’

At Barclays Private Bank, Derrick was a member of the firm’s senior leadership team with ultimate responsibility for a team of bankers managing assets for 50 UK families.

Previously, he held positions at Lombard Odier, Goldman Sachs and Paribas. Derrick is also a trustee and former chairman of Orion Orchestra and a trustee for Pimlico Opera.
