JO Hambro Capital Management (Johcm) has appointed ex-M&G Investments veteran Aled Smith as an investment director.
Smith will provide investment insight to the firm's 16 teams, based in London, Boston, New York and Singapore.
He will also head the search for future recruits at Johcm as the firm draws up plans to add to its investment range.
Smith spent 18-years at M&G before his exit last November.
He played a key role in building the firm's global equity business and managed a range of funds during his tenure, including the M&G American and M&G Global Leaders funds.
‘Aled has a tremendous pedigree as an experienced, successful investor and is an innovative thinker,’ Emilio Gonzalez, Johcm’s acting CEO.
‘His expertise will help us maintain our emphasis on generating market-leading long-term returns for our clients through high conviction, active investing and will play an important role in the growth of the Johcm business.’
Smith will be based in London and join on 24 September.
Early last month, JOHCM hired portfolio managers Giorgio Caputo and Lale Topcuoglu to spearhead its soon to be launched global multi-asset income investment strategy.
