Janus Henderson UK equity boss Burvill takes extended leave

Janus Henderson's Chris Burvill - co-manager of its £2.1 billion Cautious Managed fund,  and its head of UK equity - is to take extended leave for health reasons.

The equity portion of the multi-asset fund will be run by co-manager Stephen Payne, who was poached from Santander in 2015 as deputy on the mandate.

He will be supported by long-time leads on the fund's bond portfolio, co-heads of strategic fixed income John Pattullo and Jenna Barnard.

Burvill (pictured) joined the firm via its 2011 acquisition of Gartmore. Previously he spent 10 years at Investec as UK equities manager.

Burvill said: ‘I am confident that the Janus Henderson Cautious Managed Fund is in very capable hands.

‘I have worked side by side with Stephen since 2016 and alongside John and Jenna for over five years. I remain invested in the fund and have full confidence that it will run seamlessly in my absence and continue to deliver strong risk adjusted, long-term performance to clients.’

Janus Henderson said the fund’s investment process will remain unchanged.

The fund has lagged in recent years according to Citywire data, returning 9.6% over three years versus a peer average of 18.3%.
