Investec W&I private office head Butler-Cassar exits

Investec W&I private office head Butler-Cassar exits

Investec Wealth & Investment’s head of private office Andrew Butler-Cassar has exited the business, alongside investment director Joe Sylvester.

Butler-Cassar’s (pictured) departure marks the end of a 15-year stint at the company, having first joined Williams de Broë in 2002 (which was later bought by Investec).

He had been tasked with building the private office after it was launched in 2015, providing a range of services to investors with a net worth of at least £10 million. Sylvester had also worked on the private office team.

While Butler-Cassar’s plans were not known at the time of writing, Sylvester has joined LGT Vestra as an investment manager, focusing on discretionary and advisory portfolios across a range of structures. He had worked at Investec
for five years, and prior to that spent three years at Ruffer as an investment associate.

Investec declined to comment on Butler-Cassar and Sylvester’s departures, alongside who will succeed Butler-Cassar as head of the private office.

Other recent departures from the business include investment manager Miguel Guterres, who left after 14 years, and financial planning director Svenja Keller.

The summer also saw the long-awaited launch of Investec’s actively managed robo service, Click & Invest.
The proposition targets clients with at least £10,000 to invest via a five-strong range of portfolios that typically holds actively managed funds.
