Investec AM hires former Pictet EM equity boss

Investec Asset Management has hired Pictet’s former co-head of global emerging market equities, Nidhi Mahurkar, as an investment director.

Focusing on the firm’s Asia, China and emerging market offerings, she will report to Citywire A-rated Greg Kuhnert (pictured), portfolio manager of the Investec All China and Asian Equity strategies.

A specialist in emerging market credit, Mahurkar spent 13 years at Pictet Asset Management where she was also its head of Asia ex Japan.

Before that, she spent five years at Lazard where was she a member of its global emerging markets team and ran the Birla India Investment Trust.

Kuhnert said: ‘Nidhi’s extensive expertise and deep knowledge of investing in Asia and emerging markets is ideally suited to further developing our investment capabilities in this area.

‘She will be instrumental in helping to develop our business for the next exciting phase of growth, given the demand we have seen for the asset class.

‘We continually look to add investment expertise to our team in order to enable us to develop investment solutions as opportunities evolve, shaping the investment opportunities presented by emerging markets to best enable our clients to meet their investment objectives’.
