HSBC Private Banking re-hires Cerno Capital’s director

HSBC Private Banking the re-hired Jonathan Reed exactly one year after he left the firm.

Reed will take up the role of director in the private bank’s UK domestic hi‎gh net worth team.

He was appointed as a private client director of Cerno Capital last year a bid to strengthen its private client offering. It is as yet unclear who Reed’s replacement will be.

Prior to his first stint at HSBC, he spent seven years at Seven Investment Managers as an investment manager. He also worked at Brown Shipley.

Joining alongside Reed in the hi‎gh net worth team is Christopher Pullen, who spent six years at Barclays Private Bank in London and Hong Kong.

The bank has also appointed Paul Fairfoull to desk head in the South, reporting to Peter Barriscale, business head for HSBC Private Banking’s domestic high net worth teams.

Fairfoull joins from Credit Suisse, where he focused on business development. 

Elsewhere, Mark Sheerin joined as an investment counsellor based in Manchester.

In May, HSBC Private Banking made efforts to grow its presence outside of London with four regional and ultra-high net worth hires.

Nathan Dosanjh joined the firm’s Birmingham team from Investec Wealth Management to work as a relationship manager. The bank also recently boosted its Birmingham team with Adrian Hogg, who moved to private banking from HSBC Premier.

Meanwhile Darren Watkins joined the private banking team in the South West and Wales, having come across from HSBC Premier where he spent seven years working with high net worth clients.

Earlier this year, Sam Fearon, associate director in HSBC Private Banking’s credit advisory team moved to Liverpool as a relationship manager to cover the North West.

Cerno Capital’s Nick Hornby was recently profiled in Wealth Manager, in which he talked about how his firm had been expanding its proposition and working on building its brand.
