HSBC GAM poaches Legal & General bond passive head

HSBC Global Asset Management has hired Legal & General Investment Management’s head of passive fixed income to run its passive fixed income investment team.

Based in London, Sebastien Faucher joins in the newly created role head of passive fixed income.

He will report to Xavier Baraton, global chief investment officer of fixed income, and Philip Glaze, chief investment officer for the UK.

Prior to Legal & General, Faucher had been an investment manager at SSGA Global Fixed Income. Throughout his career, he has held roles at the National Bank of Canada, both in Montreal and London.

‘This significant hire forms part of a strategic initiative to further strengthen HSBC Global Asset Management’s proposition within passive investments,’ said Baraton.

‘The initiative, in which Sebastien will play a key role, is in response to identified client demand. It reflects our commitment to satisfy it with the most relevant and effective range of products and solutions.’

Faucher added: ‘I am excited to be working with the team to deliver solutions and strategies that directly address the challenges that clients face today.’
