Emerging markets boutique names new European CEO

Fiera Capital has appointed Kanesh Lakhani as chief executive officer of its European division.

Based in London, Lakhani will have responsibility for the development and implementation of the firm's strategy in Europe, from new initiatives, hiring, to the firm’s sales and business development activities.

Lakhani replaces Jayne Sutcliffe, who oversaw the £41 million acquisition of Charlemagne Capital, which became the European division of Fiera Capital at the end of 2016.

Fiera Capital scrapped the historical Charlemagne Capital name after it completed the integration.

Prior to joining Fiera Capital, Lakhani was managing director, EMEA and Asia distribution at First State Investments for seven years, where he was responsible for global strategy, developing new product ideas and setting sales priorities.

Before joining First State Investments, Lakhani spent 14 years at State Street Global Advisors, reaching the rank of senior managing director and head of the UK and Middle East business. Prior to this, he held a number of senior roles at Barclays Global Investors.

‘I am delighted to join a firm that has ambitious plans to grow its presence and offering in Europe,’ said Lakhani.

‘Fiera Capital has a range of outstanding investment strategies and is constantly looking to improve upon and add to those. With a fast changing investment landscape, I look forward to working with Fiera Capital’s exceptional investment teams to deepen its reach, reputation and brand over the coming years.’
