Columbia Threadneedle CIO named IA investment chair

Columbia Threadneedle’s chief investment officer EMEA Mark Burgess has been appointed as the new chair of the Investment Association’s (IA) Investment Committee.

Burgess (pictured) will start his duties right way as he chairs this afternoon’s Investment Committee meeting.

The Investment Committee is one of the IA’s main committees and is responsible for all matters affecting asset managers. The committee focuses on sustainability and responsible investing, trading, derivatives and private markets.

‘Mark has a wealth of industry experience and his leadership will benefit the work of the IA in ensuring that markets work fairly and effectively to meet the needs of savers and investors,’ said Galina Dimitrova, IA director for investment and capital markets.

Burgess added: ‘The asset management industry is undergoing a time of change, challenge and opportunity and as an industry, we have a responsibility to ensure that we are delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients.

‘I look forward to working closely with the committee to provide strategic oversight of the Association’s activities which support users of capital markets.”
