Brooks Macdonald poaches Brewin Dolphin finance head

Brooks Macdonald has poached Brewin Dolphin’s head of finance Ben Thorpe.

Thorpe will join the company on 20 August as group finance director. Prior to Brewin Dolphin he held a number of roles at Standard Bank, Barclays Capital, RBS and Morgan Stanley.

Caroline Connellan (pictured), chief executive officer, said: ‘We are delighted that Ben will be bringing his considerable finance and industry experience to assist in delivering our strategy and driving business performance over the coming years.

'He is an important addition to our leadership team and will play a major role in positioning the business for further growth and in the delivery of improved operating margins over the medium term.’

Chris Knight, chairman, added: ‘I look forward to welcoming Ben to the board when he joins us later this year. His fresh insight and broad industry perspective will be invaluable as we build on the company's success to date and capture the opportunities we see in our next phase of growth’
