BlackRock’s £6bn Euro equity manager steps down

BlackRock’s Alice Gaskell is leaving the firm to take a career break, with her co-manager Andreas Zollinger taking on sole responsibility for their European equity funds.

In a staff memo, BlackRock said Gaskell will be stepping down to spend some time with her family. She has been with the company for 24 years.

A spokesperson for BlackRock told Wealth Manager sister site Citywire Selector that the transition process for Gaskell’s departure is already under way.

Gaskell, who was most recently rated by Citywire in March, achieving a + rating, co-runs three funds with Zoellinger, covering European equity income, European equity and Europe ex UK.

Gaskell and Zoellinger were responsible for the BGF European Equity Income, which has €2.5 billion in assets (£2.1 billion), the €3.7 billion BGF Euro Markets, and the £1.9 billion BlackRock Continental Europe fund.

BlackRock said the changes in portfolio management will not affect the investment objectives or guidelines of the funds. Zoellinger will be supported by the BlackRock Fundamental Active European Equity team.
