BennBridge to launch emerging market boutique

Multi-boutique investment firm BennBridge has added a second boutique to its ranks after partnering with emerging markets manager Pembroke.

BennBridge, the UK subsidiary of Australian venture capital firm Bennelong Funds, which launched into the UK last year is looking to open its new boutique to external investors in the first quarter of 2018.

Sanjiv Bhatia, the founder of Pembroke and its chief investment officer, specialises in emerging markets equities, having managed portfolios within the Harvard Endowment - of which he was a managing director - between 2013 and 2017.

‘Having managed a successful emerging markets long/short strategy since 2005, I am pleased to now launch my business in partnership with BennBridge and pursue this strategy for the benefit of a greater audience,’ said Bhatia.

Bhatia spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs where he was head of Asian equity trading in Hong Kong, before building the Asian businesses at Deephaven Capital Management and Isometric Capital.

Ryan Durance, head of business development at BennBridge, said: ‘We believe it is the optimal time in the emerging markets equity cycle to launch a specialist emerging market boutique. Sanjiv stood out because of his extensive experience investing in Asian and emerging markets equities and his proven and long track record.’

The launch of Pembroke follows the recent launch of Tellworth led by ex-Schroders duo Paul Marriage and John Warren.
