Barclays makes Scotland hire after Julius Baer raid

Barclays has poached a former Tilney executive for its Scotland team as it looks to fill the gaps left by a raid on its staff from rival Julius Baer.

Alexandra Mancini joins as wealth manager in Barclays’ wealth and investment management division in Scotland.

As well as looking after clients in the east of Scotland, she will help grow the bank’s entrepreneurial, SME and charity books.

Mancini was previously a business development executive at Tilney, but joined Barclays from education provider Navitas.

The appointment comes after Julius Baer earlier this month hired five wealth managers from Barclays for its new Edinburgh office.

The Swiss private bank earlier took nine staff from Barclays.

Barclays Wealth Management’s Scotland director John Godfrey said: ‘This latest hire signals our continued commitment to Scotland and our plans for growth as we start the new year.

‘Alexandra’s commercial awareness and strong business network combined with her passion for nurturing excellent client relationships will make her a valuable addition to the team as we continue to grow our presence in the Scottish market.’

Before joining Tilney, Mancini was a corporate advisor for FEX Group and is a qualified solicitor in her native Australia.

She founded and is currently chair of the Institute of Director Scotland Young Directors Forum.
