Barclays Wealth and Investment Management his hired Citibank veteran Dena Brumpton as head of UK Private Bank.
Brumpton (pictured), who joins on 1 September, has spent 30 years at Citi, initially joining the bank's asset management division in 1985 to develop its Islamic finance proposition.
She went on to have a range of roles at Citi in investment and private banking, managing strategy, sales, marketing, digital, business and operations.
Most recently, Brumpton served as global chief operating officer for Citi Private Bank.
In her new capacity, Brumpton will be responsible for helping power Barclays' growth strategy in the UK.
Commenting on the hire, Barclays W&IM chief executive Akshaya Bhargava said the firm had been looking for a UK head since appointing Francesco Grosoli as Europe boss earlier this year.
'With her [Brumpton's] strong banking background, proven leadership qualities and a passion to drive our vision and strategy, we see Dena as the ideal person to take this business to the next level.;
Brumpton added: 'This is an exciting time to be joining Barclays and I’m very optimistic about the prospects for the UK private banking business.
