Artemis Investment Management has boosted the resources on its £343 million UK Smaller Companies mandate with the appointment of a co-manager.
William Tamworth takes up the newly created role and will work alongside current portfolio manager Mark Niznik (pictured).
Tamworth has been working on the Artemis UK Smaller Companies fund since joining the firm in April last year.
He previously held equity research analyst roles with Liberum Capital and Citigroup, where he specialised in small and mid cap equities in the support services sector.
Over the 10 years to the end of February, Artemis UK Smaller Companies returned 67.6% compared to a UK Smaller Companies sector average of 59.4%. In the past year, the fund has almost doubled its peers’ returns, delivering 8.3% versus 4.5%.
