Amundi launches ultra low cost ETF range

Amundi has launched a range of exchange traded funds (ETFs) each charging 0.05%, as the company seeks to double its passive assets under management over the next four years.

The Amundi Prime (see below) range consists of nine ETFs variously offering exposure to global, Europe, USA and Japan fixed income and equity market indices designed by index provider Solactive.

Head of Amundi ETF, indexing and smart beta Fannie Wurtz said: ‘The Amundi Prime ETF range is built on our experience and outstanding bargaining power as Europe’s largest asset manager.

‘We are confident that this range will meet investors’ needs for cost-efficiency, simplicity and transparency.’

The launch comes as the firm revealed plans to grow assets under management in its ETF, indexing and smart beta products to €200 billion (£172 billion) by 2023.

Its strategy is to focus on increasing client coverage in Europe and Asia, developing its product offering and boosting its retail market presence.

Wurtz said: ‘We have been experiencing strong and steady growth over the past years across all areas of expertise and client segments.

We will look to meet our objectives by developing new markets while continuing to increase our European presence, where we believe there is still significant room for growth.’

In January, Amundi hired Ashley Fagan as head of ETF, indexing and smart beta development in the UK and Ireland from BlackRock, where she was head of iShares Institutional for the same region.
