Kent Hargis

Kent Hargis is Portfolio Manager of Strategic Core Equities at Alliance Bernstein. He has been managing the Global, International and US portfolios since their inception in September 2011, and the Emerging Markets Strategic Core portfolio since January 2015. Hargis was named Head of Quantitative Research for Equities in 2009, with responsibility for overseeing the research and application of risk and return models across the firm’s equity portfolios. He joined the firm in October 2003 as a senior quantitative strategist. Prior to that, Hargis was chief portfolio strategist for global emerging markets at Goldman Sachs. From 1995 through 1998, he was assistant professor of international finance in the graduate program at the University of South Carolina, where he published extensively on various international investment topics. Hargis holds a PhD in economics from the University of Illinois, where his research focused on international finance, econometrics and emerging financial markets.

Stuart Rae

Stuart Rae has been Chief Investment Officer of Asia-Pacific ex Japan Value equities at Alliance Bernstein since 2006. He served as co-CIO of Australian Value until 2012, and was CIO of Australian Value Equities from 2003 to 2006. Stuart joined the firm in 1999 as a research analyst covering European consumer-cyclicals stocks. Previously, he was a management consultant with McKinsey for six years in Australia and the UK. Stuart earned a BS (with honors) from Monash University in Australia in 1987 and a PhD in physics from the University of Oxford in 1991, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.

Sammy Suzuki

Born in Yokohama in 1971, Sammy Suzuki studied finance and materials science and engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. Sammy has worked for Alliance Bernstein since 1994 holding different positions. He is currently a fund manager and manages emerging market equities as well as some institutional mandates. He bases his strategy on value investment with price to normalized earnings as a key valuation metric. Sammy is a CFA Charterholder and member of the Economic Club of New York.

Objective

The Portfolio's investment objective is long term growth of capital. The Portfolio seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing in a portfolio of equity securities of emerging markets companies. The Investment Manager uses its proprietary risk and return models as well as its judgment and experience in managing investment portfolios to construct a portfolio with a balance of quality, stability and reasonable valuation. The Investment Manager seeks to deliver long-term capital growth while providing downside protection and limiting volatility relative to the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.
