Last week New Model Adviser® journalists Elliot Smith and Jack Gilbert visited Manchester Metropolitan University to see NextGen Planners' graduate boot camp.
15 students mingled with 14 advisers in the hope they would secure a possible job or apprenticeship with an advice firm. There was speed dating, group exercises and student presentations in front of a panel of advisers.
NextGen co-founder Adam Carolan said if the day was a success it would be rolled out to other universities around the country.
While Joanne Bambrick, senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, was eager to make it an annual event with NextGen.
Last year NextGen launched Training Contract, an independent training programme it hopes will help encourage new firms to train and retain new talent. The event in Manchester was part of the group’s efforts to help advisers find and recruit talented youngsters.
