Towry compliance head exits after Tilney takoever

National advice firm Tilney has hired a replacement for the head of compliance who has left the company 12 months after it completed the acquisition of Towry.

Towry compliance head exits after Tilney takoever

Tilney has hired a chief risk officer from the insurance sector to replace outgoing Towry head of compliance Garry Appleton.

The company has appointed Nigel Allman as chief risk officer, who was previously in the same role at insurance firm Vitality.

Appleton started at Towry in 2013 and held the position of head of compliance. Tilney completed the acquisition of rival national advice firm Towry last August and a spokeswoman said Appleton had agreed at that point to stay on for another 12 months.

‘When we completed the Towry acquisition a year ago, Garry agreed to stay on for a year as head of compliance through the integration phase and while we recruited a successor,’ she said.

Before Vitality, Allman held compliance roles at Lloyds Bank and HBOS as well as commercial experience including sales & operations at Halifax Intermediaries and head of AA personal finance.

The Tilney spokeswoman said Appleton has now left the company.
