'In 2005 I graduated and found myself on the Buckles Investment Services graduation scheme. It felt a bit daunting moving into the world of work, particularly when I knew nothing of financial services at the time.

'A song that always got me feeling energised and good to go that year was Bloc Party's "Banquet".'

'By 2009 I had joined Innes Reid Investments and felt a big shift in my development: more responsibility, more interesting work and a new lease of life in finance.

'Primal Scream's "Movin' on Up" feels right for that time.'

'I took a sabbatical in 2011 to go travelling the world with my wife. After a great year, we decided to come back to the UK and set up a new home and life together in London.

'Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zero’s "Home" always has a sense of nostalgia.'

'Starting at Blackstone Moregate was exciting. I was excited to be working in the City and for a firm with such a good reputation. So I guess it has to be The Clash, "London Calling".'

'It was at Blackstone Moregate I developed most. Exposure to new client scenarios and working closely with our sister firm of tax advisers opened my eyes to the what financial planning can be.

'Time was flying at this point, loving work and loving life in London. I really liked this song at the time: Future Islands' "Seasons".'

'Last year we decided to call time on London and move back home to Wales. Setting up my own business has been a real learning curve but one that I have enjoyed massively.

'So far it has been good and I am confident I will grow from strength to strength with White Oak Financial Planning. So it's Arcade Fire's "Put Your Money On Me".'
