Prudential UK & Europe has appointed Tom Hegarty to head the self-employed 'invitation only' part of Prudential Financial Planning (PFP).
Hegarty was previously managing director of SimplyBiz not-for-profit subsidiary, the New Model Business Academy (NMBA), and sits on the strategic advisory group of Pimfa.
He has also held senior sales management roles at Tenet Group, Met Life and Friends Provident.
Hegarty said: 'I am really excited at the opportunity to develop a new self-employed proposition within PFP. This will create an excellent platform for growth and reward those with aspirations to expand their business.'
The new self-employed division of PFP will initially be available by invitation only to up to 30 of the current employed team, consisting of 360 advisers.
Selected advisers will be able to build their own business and qualify for a practice buy-out, a capital sum payout, on retirement.
PFP chief executive Chris Haines said: 'Tom has a terrific reputation in the industry and I am thrilled he has taken up the opportunity to head up our new self-employed business within PFP.
'This is a new and important development for us that will complement our existing business model, stimulate further growth as well as satisfying the aspirations and career ambitions of our existing adviser base.'
The new proposition will initially be similar to that of PFP, including Prudential wrappers, investment and pension funds and annuity and protection products.
