Nine-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt outran the world for eight years.
But he was put through his paces by Sam Sloma, managing director of Engage Financial Services, last week.
Former professional footballer Sloma played a seven-a-side football match with the greatest sprinter of all time near Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Bolt, who has recently played in the Australian football A-League, was in the country filming an advert. Luckily for Sloma he is friends with the people who run film production company Fulwell 73, and got the call-up. Also on the pitch were both members of pop duo Rizzle Kicks.
‘It was something I will tell the kids and grandkids in years to come,’ Sloma said. ‘It was just cool to be around someone of that stature. It is not often you get to be up close with those kinds of people.
‘He was a fairly quiet at first but when you play, you get to know people because you are shouting for the ball and hammering people for not tracking back. He was much friendlier at the end when everyone had played and it was a good game and good fun,’ he added.
Sloma, a New Model Adviser® cover star earlier this year, played on the same team as Bolt. They won the game on penalties.
