Janus Henderson veteran Stephen Peak to retire

Janus Henderson veteran Stephen Peak is to leave the fund giant in a reshuffle on its European equity desk.

According to Citywire Professional Buyer, Peak (pictured) will retire at the end of April.

Peak currently serves as a director, international equities at Janus Henderson.

He originally joined what was then Henderson Global Investors back in 1992 following the firm's acquisition of Touche Remnant, where he had worked since 1986. He has a total of 44 years' experience, starting his career with Norwich Union in 1975.

Peak has run the £1.73 billion Janus Henderson International Opportunities fund and the £426 million Janus Henderson European Focus fund since 2012 and 2001 respectively.

The firm has added Dean Cheeseman and Marc Schartz to the International Opportunities fund, on which they join a team of eight other managers, who run regional portfolios.

‘In addition to assisting with asset allocation, Dean will oversee equity selection by the co-portfolio managers to the fund’s sub-portfolios or regional sleeves of the fund,’ said a Janus Henderson spokesman.

‘Marc Schartz is appointed co-portfolio manager of the fund, with responsibility for the Europe sleeve, which Stephen previously managed.’

In other changes, Lars Dollmann is also coming off the European focus fund, and will leave the firm on April 30. Robert Schramm-Fuchs has been appointed lead manager on the fund following the departures of Peak and Dollmann.

‘These changes are representative of the strong bench of investment team members at Janus Henderson, drawing on the deep resources of the European equities team headed up by John Bennett,’ said the spokesman.
