FSCS chief: too early to tell if Sipp claims will fall

Mark Neale, chief executive of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), has called on advisers to make their voices heard in 2017, and said the recent Financial Conduct Authority consultation on FSCS funding is the perfect chance to do so.

Neale said he was pleased with the consultation which came out at the end of 2016, but said ‘it was too early to tell’ if we have seen a peak in the number of Sipp claims falling on the lifeboat.

He added that although the ban on pension cold calling was a great move, it is unlikely to see the amount of claims falling on the FSCS reduced.
