Be honest about recession uncertainty, says Miton's Jane

'Visibility on economic outcomes is perhaps six to nine months ahead in terms of reality, the rest is guesswork,' according to Miton multi-asset manager David Jane

Investment professionals have to be honest about what they do not know regarding the possibility of a global recession, according to Miton multi-asset manager David Jane.

Speaking to New Model Adviser® about speculation regarding a global downturn, Jane said outcomes beyond a six-to-nine-month period were 'guesswork'.

'In all honesty, the thesis that there's going to be a recession in 18 months' time has been pretty much consensus now for six or seven years,' he said.

'We have to be honest about this; we really don't know.'

In the video above, Jane also reflects on the woes of European countries like Italy and Greeve, and adds the instability of EU member nations is a can that has been repeatedly kicked down the road.
