As if often the case, the big winners among investment trusts this year were the losers of previous years. As emerging markets and commodities bounced back from three-year lows, investment trusts in these areas did very well indeed.
Shareholder activism was a big trend too, with restive investors unlocking value in a wide range of funds.
And despite the uncertainty before and after the EU referendum, investors continued to back new investment trusts that either offered something different or timed their fund raising efforts well.
